50 Herzen, 2023 (Installation View)
Baked goods such as rolls, breads, and cakes have a long history and tradition, and the skills of bakers and confectioners are translated and interpreted by digital technology. Baking is closely associated with many emotions and brings back memories for people: family, childhood, birthdays, Christmas, festivals, etc.
The idea of sharing and gifting is realized in the '50 Hearts' sculpture. This artwork is reminiscent of a waffle. The first waffles were made in the early 9th century. Like biscuits, waffles were made for special occasions. With industrialization, they evolved into the distinctive honeycomb shape that people around the world associate with waffles. I chose the Swedish waffle mold, which consists of five heart-shaped pieces that can be shared with family, friends, strangers, or guests, as the basis for the piece.
